The end of the 2016 wedding season.

A few snippets from our year

Well, another summer season is coming to a close here in southern Spain and that means the end, or at least the slowdown, of the wedding season too! It´s been a truly eventful and incredibly busy year for the Costa del Party and Marbella Bride team here on the Costa del Sol! There has been sweat, tears, trials and tribulations, but most of all, there has been an abundance of Love, to make it all worthwhile! We have, once again, assisted couples from all walks of life, with many variations on how each couple wanted their wedding day to be, there are never any set rules!

We started off this year in early March with the Wedding of Wanessa and Mike, a small intimate wedding at a stunning private villa in Mijas. A slightly risky affair as we were still in the rainy season, but luck was on their side and it was a gloriously sunny day! The evening was a bit cold, but we supplied several patio heaters which kept things pleasant for the guests! Mike had contacted us last minute and we had only 2 weeks to completely arrange the wedding, but we did it, of course!

It´s funny how you always remember the first wedding of each season the most, by the time the season is ending, many of the weddings are just starting to all blur into one, but there are always special highlights and extra memorable ones that stick in the mind!

Our second most memorable wedding of the year, (this time we assisted in the form of entertainment, daytime audio, advice, and isle decoration), was for Sally Jaxx, Tv presenter and singer from the UK and her partner Gary. Once a part of the UK pop group Bucks Fizz. Sally is a larger than life character and was amazing fun to work with! The wedding was held at the Kempinski hotel in Estepona and the only let down of the day was the near gale force winds, which made the ceremony rather tricky, even the lanterns blew over along the aisle! This is the downfall of beachside weddings, that, when it is windy, it can be very windy by the beach, sadly we had to leave out Sally´s much-wanted petals down the aisle, or they would have ended up all over the hotel grounds!

Despite the wind, the wedding ceremony, conducted by ordained minister Kurt Kettner-Borough, was beautiful, with a touch of humor and radiating love, we were soon moving on to more sheltered areas! The rest of the day was amazing, Sally had decided on her own table decoration, shipping a lot of it in from the UK, I must say it looked stunning to say the least! The Party was pretty good too and they danced until the early hours, with Dj Mark Antony (that´s me!) at the decks! Sally also sang a couple of her hit numbers, which was a surprise and showed us that she has still got it, in abundance!

Denise and Alex are our next most memorable couple, they got married in August in a lovely wedding venue in Malaga, with 150 guests it was a large wedding and we enjoyed working on it. Providing coordination on the day, decoration, an LED dance floor, flowers, cake, and many other services. Our biggest challenge was the head table backdrop of chandeliers suspended from a frame, but we pulled it off in style! We used tripods and an overhead lighting truss to suspend the chandeliers safely, wired them all up and then covered the tripods and truss with material, plus a layer of organza, to make it all look stunning!

Our lovely florist Shona then adorned it with flowers and took care of the flowers for the tables, which were displayed in tall vases. The chandeliers looked even more stunning at night!

Wedding in Malaga Spain

Stunning beach club weddings.

In September this year, we were asked to help add the wow factor to a wedding in La Cabane beach club, part of the Los Monteros hotel. Although a small wedding, no expense was spared in making the venue look absolutely stunning! We put 12 large lanterns around the pool, 12 of our special LED up-lights around the white walls and fairy lights around the palm trees and behind the head table. We also have a 5ft tall illuminated love sign by the pool and a gobo projection on the roof of the cabane with the couple's names on it, plus giant helium balloons in the pool to finish it off! The results?.. Stunning!

Helping to coordinate the day, we also provided Spanish guitarist Mark Shurrey to play for the wedding meal a flamenco show and a bongo player to go with the Dj, plus uplighting, LED dance floor and high-class lighting for the party, so the inside was just as stunning as around the pool! The Dinner ended with an impressive firework show before the couple made their way to the dance hall for the first dance! Another memorable wedding indeed!

We work with so many stunning wedding venues on the Costa del Sol, it is hard to choose a favorite, as they all have their own personalities, but when it comes to beach clubs, La Cabane and the Estrella del Mar beach club are among our top favorites. Why? I am not entirely sure, as there are many other aesthetically pleasing venues, but let´s just say, it is always a good "vibe" at these two venues!

Once again in 2016 we worked alongside many other reputable wedding planners too, providing their clients with our unbeatable audio, lighting and wedding entertainment services. The wedding professionals community on the Costa del Sol is like one big family really, well the good guys are anyway! Sticking together and helping each other along is key to providing excellent services for all our clients all round!

Some Sad news in 2016!

There is always something that happens during the year that shocks and stuns you. This year is was news that the amazing wedding photographer David Toms was involved in a motorcycle accident. We had worked alongside David many times, a talented, friendly, amazing guy! David has sustained severe spinal injuries and is currently in a specialist spinal hospital in Madrid, where he is making a slow, but steady recovery. We would like to offer David and his family our continued thoughts and prayers.

We would like to thank all the professionals who worked alongside us during 2016, photographers, our talented florist Shona, all those amazing bands and acts, plus our own team of hard workers!

There are so many memorable highlights from the 2016 wedding season, (we assisted with over 70 in all), that we would love just love to write about them all, but alas, we are already too busy helping 2017 brides to host their weddings here in Spain! No matter how long you have been a wedding planner, every year seems to be a learning curve and brings with it, new sets of challenges. Marbella Bride continue to improve, innovate and keep with the ever changing times, to help couples to have an amazing wedding in southern Spain, without any stress!

All in all it´s been a great year for Marbella Bride and we have helped so many lovely couples to enjoy their wedding of a lifetime here on the Costa del Sol.
