Introducing Nerja and La Axarquia

Lesser known but stunning all the same!

If you have ever visited the Costa del Sol, Malaga province of Spain, you have probably left Malaga airport and headed in the direction of Marbella, many people do! However, heading in the other direction (East) on the Motorway, you will land up in the region known as La Axarquia, made up of lesser know, but still popular locations such as Nerja, Lake Viñuela, Torre del Mar, Torrox, plus many more quaint Spanish seaside towns and rural hideaways. This region is still part of the Costa del Sol, but with a little less hustle and bustle, retaining a lot more of the Spanish culture too! It's a really stunning area, with some amazing beaches and seriously stunning landscapes, an area that should definitely be considered for your wedding or event in Spain. 

One of the most popular destinations in La Axarquia has to be Nerja and it's not hard to see why, it's a beautiful place, with one of the most lovely catholic churches too, making it perfect for a wedding. Nerja is a seaside resort of sandy coves sheltered by the impressive Sierra de Almijara mountains and is often referred to as ‘The Jewel of the Costa del Sol’. If you have not already visited this area then we highly recommend it!

Axarquia is not without tourists, but it has fewer than the big resorts to the west of Malaga, once visited, however, it becomes a magnet for many people, who come back to the region year after year! Maybe it's the relaxed, laid-back attitude, the stunning beauty of the area, the amazing fiestas, the superb local gastronomy, or the miles of undeveloped beaches and coves to explore! Is Axarquia a good place to host your wedding or event, you bet it is!
